About Sonho Bakery

Sonho Bakery is an asian bakery in Newark, New Jersey. It is listed at 198 Van Buren St, Newark, NJ 07105, which places it among the local businesses of Newark that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Hours at these spots often run into the evening, later than a typical coffee shop, and many stay open on weekends when demand is highest in Newark. Seasonal and limited-time drink or dessert flavors are common, so a shop's current menu can differ from what is posted online; checking recent photos or calling ahead helps. Some locations in New Jersey are dessert-only with no seating, meant for takeout, while others have cafe-style seating for staying a while. Straws for bubble tea are typically wide to accommodate the toppings, and are provided automatically unless you ask for a regular one. Loyalty apps and stamp cards are common at chain locations, and ordering ahead through an app can shorten a wait considerably at busy locations during peak after-school and after-dinner hours.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 5 am–3 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (973) 856-6108. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Newark is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Newark follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The customer service was absolutely horrible; the staff were very rude to customers and were always talking bad about other people in the store. The person was never in the right mood and should tell customers in advance that they need to spend a certain amount of money. I ordered tea, thinking I could pay with Apple Pay, and they said I had to spend a certain amount, which I understand. So I was going to add a bacon and cheese sandwich, and the lady refused to serve me food.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The owner/employee was unbelievably rude β€” not just curt, but flat-out disrespectful. I came in expecting a welcoming neighborhood bakery, but instead was treated like an inconvenience the moment I walked through the door. My husband, cousin, and I came in with our two 3-year-olds in their stroller tricycles. The bakery was completely empty, yet the woman immediately gave us nasty looks. Assuming it was about the strollers, we carefully moved them aside next to their oversized plant. Instantly she shouted at us to β€œbe careful” β€” even though we already were. We’re grown adults with kids; we don’t barrel through places carelessly. Moments later, instead of respectfully addressing us, she yelled across the room, β€œNo tricycles allowed!!!” The tone was rude, unnecessary, and completely unprofessional. Had she simply come over and asked, we would have gladly left them outside. Instead, we were left shocked at the hostility. A business that serves the public should at the very least treat customers with courtesy. This bakery failed miserably. I can’t speak to the food, because the negative interaction ruined the experience and we walked out before or

I’m honestly disgusted by how a place like this operates with zero regard for hospitality. The racism and hostility displayed were deeply upsetting and it made the experience even worse than the subpar food. There are people running food trucks and small carts with more integrity and respect for their customers than what I encountered here. Do yourself a favor and avoid wasting your time and money at this establishment. πŸ—‘οΈ

I definitely do not recommend. both owner and daughter were extremely rude. daughter definitely had no motivation of being there. I had also witnessed both yell at two minors for buying two drinks. the owner had little to no respect at all for either of them, and continuously yelled at their face. they should really take down the place if they are not willing to serve customers with any respect.

I will never visit this place again, the owner and daughter of Sonho's Bakery are two of the rudest people I have ever met. The screaming and nasty comments that come out of their mouths to customers is absurd. The quality of food and service is down right awful, and not to mention the health department should probably pay them a visit because I noticed cockroaches on the floor. Just the other day when I was going through my own experience I also witnessed the owner scold two young children after they purchased a couple drinks after school. This place should be shut down they should not be able to operate serving the good people of this neighborhood in this capacity.. SHAME ON YOU SONHO's BAKERY!!!
